Forgive and Forget

about

Here's another dip into my huge vault of songs (600+) written over the past many years but never released. Forgive and Forget was written/recorded in the mid-1980s, using Korg Poly-800 synth playing an a ostinato (although using different pitches). Lyrically, it only had a few lines and a heavily repeated chorus so I re-worked the entire song. I also felt it was a good track to follow Wait and See in case the person in that song chose not to stick with the relationship and move on. This song is all about moving on, even though feelings are still quite strong.

lyrics

Forgive and forget
I should have known it
But I kept on calling
'Til finally I reached her.

Forgive and forget
There was a time when
We first had our chances
To keep it together.

I should have known.

Forgive and forget
I waited so long
'Til I saw you again
But you were not alone
Time to move on.

Forgive and forget
I tried so hard to
But I can't stop thinking
And wanting you back with me

Leave me alone.
Leave me alone.
Leave me alone.

about

Michael Barrett Dixon Richmond, Virginia

MBD started composing music and writing songs at age 13. He refined his craft in college (two music composition degrees) and has never looked back.

Most albums blend many genres, so it is difficult to pin one on this musician. A synth is usually not far away, but MBD has dabbled in jazz, electronic, soundtrack, alternative, rock, and pop. You name it, he has probably written something in it.
